Terms and Conditions for The Laundry People
By submitting items to The Laundry People, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
- Customer Responsibility for Items:
- Customers must remove all personal items (e.g., pens, money, jewelry, or other objects) from clothing, linens, or other items before submission. The Laundry People is not responsible for loss or damage to items left in pockets or attached to submitted articles.
- Customers are responsible for ensuring items are suitable for washing or dry cleaning, including checking care labels. We are not liable for damage resulting from incorrect or missing care instructions.
- Liability for Damage or Loss:
- The Laundry People exercises reasonable care and skill in processing items, as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2022. However, we are not liable for damage caused by:
- Items left in clothing or linens (e.g., pens, lipsticks, or other objects causing stains or damage).
- Pre-existing damage, wear, or defects in items (e.g., weakened fabrics or seams).
- Inherent material defects or improper care labels provided by the manufacturer.
- In the event of loss or damage due to our negligence, compensation is limited to the current market value of the item at the time of loss, accounting for depreciation, up to a maximum of €150 per order.
- The Laundry People exercises reasonable care and skill in processing items, as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2022. However, we are not liable for damage caused by:
- Inspection and Processing:
- While we may perform basic inspections, we cannot guarantee checking every item for foreign objects due to the volume of laundry processed. Customers remain responsible for ensuring items are free of objects.
- We follow care labels and industry-standard processes. If no care label is present, we will use our best judgment, but we are not liable for resulting damage.
- Claims and Disputes:
- Any claims for loss or damage must be reported within 48 hours of item collection or delivery, with evidence (e.g., photos or the item itself). We may send items to an independent lab for analysis to determine the cause of damage, with costs borne by the party at fault.
- We aim to resolve disputes amicably. If unresolved, claims may be pursued through the Small Claims Court (for claims up to €2,000) or other legal channels.
- Uncollected Items:
- Items not collected within 30 days of notification may be disposed of or donated, with no liability to The Laundry People. Customers will be notified via contact details provided.
- Payment and Refusal of Service:
- Payment is due upon submission or collection, as agreed. We reserve the right to refuse service to any customer for reasons including non-payment or submission of hazardous items.
- Late payment may incur a fee of €5 per week until settled.
- Stain Removal and Results:
- We will make reasonable efforts to remove stains but cannot guarantee removal, especially for stains caused by foreign objects or pre-existing conditions. Additional cleaning attempts may incur extra charges.
